Vendor Reports & Custom Reports: Every Slice of Your Spending, On Demand

Two new analytics views let you zoom into any piece of your financial picture — whether that's a single store or a fully custom filter — and get instant totals, charts, and breakdowns without touching a spreadsheet.

The question that's always a few clicks too far

How much did we spend at Costco last year? What did dining out cost us in Q1? How much have we put into home improvement since January?

These are simple questions that used to require a mental note, an export, or enough scroll-and-squint time to make you give up. Now they each take about two seconds.

Part 1: Vendor Reports

Every vendor in Uncommon Cash now has a dedicated report page. Open any vendor and you immediately see a full financial summary for that store or service — no filters required.

Total spend at a glance

See total spend, transaction count, date range, and net amount for every vendor — all on one page.

Category breakdown

A pie chart shows how your spending at a vendor splits across categories. Does Amazon mostly hit Home or Entertainment?

Month-by-month chart

A bar chart shows spend (and income) per month — useful for spotting seasonal patterns in subscriptions or services.

Full transaction list

Scroll down to see every transaction from that vendor, with dates and amounts, so you can audit or edit anything.

Stat cards

Total Spend, Transactions, Date Range, and Net Amount are always shown at the top — the headline numbers for that vendor across all time.

Category breakdown pie chart

See how your spending at this vendor distributes across categories. If your Costco charges bounce between Groceries, Household, and Gas, the pie chart shows you the exact split.

Monthly bar chart

Spend and income are charted month by month, so you can see whether that service is seasonal, growing, or surprisingly consistent.

Category breakdown table

Below the charts, a table lists every category with its transaction count and total — useful for a quick audit before you decide whether to recategorize anything.

Part 2: Custom Filter Reports

Vendor reports answer "how much did I spend at X?" Custom reports answer anything else. Set any combination of filters on the Transactions page, then tap Report to get a full analytics breakdown of exactly that slice.

Any filter combination

Search text, category, vendor, account, date range, amount range, tag, or automation rule — combine as many as you need.

Instant stat cards

Total spend, transaction count, date range, and net amount update instantly based on your filters.

Category mix pie chart

Even when filtering across multiple vendors, see how the spend breaks down by category.

Monthly trend chart

Filter to a specific category or vendor and see whether your spending in that slice is growing, shrinking, or steady.

Filters you can combine to build your report:

  • Keyword search — find every transaction mentioning "gym" or "streaming"
  • Category — scope to a single spending bucket
  • Vendor — same as the Vendor Report, but with all your other filters on top
  • Account — see only one bank or credit card
  • Date range — last quarter, last year, or any custom window
  • Amount range — filter to transactions above or below a threshold
  • Tag — pull every transaction you tagged for a trip, event, or project
  • Automation rule — see which transactions a specific rule matched

The report preserves your filter context — hit the back button and you return to the exact filtered Transactions view you started from, nothing reset.

How to get started

  1. 1

    Open a vendor

Go to Vendors and click any vendor name to open its detail page.

  2. 2

    Review the stats and charts

The page loads total spend, transaction count, date range, net amount, a category breakdown pie chart, and a month-by-month bar chart automatically.

  3. 3

Build a custom report from Transactions

Go to Transactions, set any filters you want, then click the Report button to see a full breakdown of just that slice.
